Intertwined – A Poem for C. Drake

Keep your mouth shut — because no one can know
The secrets we keep and never really show
If he finds out, I’m a dead woman for sure
But I’m only doing me — to keep myself pure

Your spirit like mist after a rain
Refreshing to touch, driving me insane
Seven years later and you still give me the chills
Wondering what you’re doing now to send me thrills

Resting in heaven
I can’t stop dancing with you
You’re the only one who’s ever understood
We shared so many of the same views

The beginning was like a drug
Taboo from the start
The sweetest nectar ever tasted
Complete with a matching heart

Don’t it always seem to go
Don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone
We’re too intertwined
To ever really die

(Can’t wait to see you again, my friend)
