Our leaders brag to the world about free and open elections
but, the realty is they are merely complicated selections
Democracy is a fragile thing
like a daffodil fighting for life after a snow in early spring
Right now the US is under a standing 8 count
because the Electoral College was not required to do a recount
When our checks and balances fail
it foreshadows the end of our nation’s tale
Here in America there are millions who refused to see
that we now live a flawed democracy
