Downstate in Springfield our legislative Jacks and Jills
can’t find a way to pay Illinois’ bills
College student’s minds here are in a funk
because the state’s bonds are now rated junk
CPS had to borrow millions just for the last 3 weeks of school
The Mayor is tired of being the Governor’s tool
It is time for our lawmakers to consider selling cannabis
and other ways to reach a state of fiscal bliss
Every few weeks there is more economic bad news
as we the people sing the Land Of Lincoln Blues
